Instow the point of the Taw Torridge estuary where the two rivers converge into one.

This venue is located in a Bass nursery area so care must be taken when handling any small Bass caught.

The beach itself is an easy to get to, easy to fish venue with plenty of parking and easy access. Tackle losses are generally at a minimum unless you decide to fish the rocks behind the Cricket ground. Instow seems to be a venue that fishes well over high or low water but fishing at night improves your chances of catching ten fold.

The prime bait here seems to be "blow" Lug which if your feeling energetic can be dug on the beach while you fish. Peeler crab is a close second and is especially effective from the rocky area behind the cricket ground. A large Mackerel or Squid bait will seperate the larger fish from the others.

Great fun can be had by fishing light gear, i usually fish with a 1-3oz rod and a reel loaded with 10lb mono.

If you fish this venue at night try and keep lighting to a minimum as the water here is crystal clear and WILL scare the fish.

Left. A cracking 5lb beer drinking Bass that was taken by Coilin AKA "4foxhake"

My son Reece (6) with his first ever fish, a nice "schoolie" bass of about 1 1/2lb. The fish was taken on lugworm on a running ledger whilst fishing the last 3 hours of the ebbing tide.
